Over the past year, the DVC has received a growing number of enquiries from parents and the volleyball community in the South-East Melbourne area wishing to enroll their children in a junior volleyball competition or development program.
With DVC’s long history in competing at the state’s highest level as well as ongoing focus on grass roots development, the club has responded to this demand and placed greater emphasis on embedding Junior Volleyball within the club.
Over the past 3 years, the DVC has run a Junior Boys program with great success. The club has developed and trained over 50 athletes and fielded 2 Division 3 Boys teams at the state's highest Volleyball competition for 2 consecutive years. This year we aim to continue the Junior Boys Program to support young athletes reach their full potential in this sport.
In September 2017, the DVC commenced its inaugural 2017 Spring Women's & Junior Girls Development Program. The program ran for 12 weeks and had 28 registered participants.
The program catered for anyone starting in volleyball (beginners to an intermediate level) 12 years of age and up, who were interested in improving their volleyball skills for social competitions or to lead them onto higher levels of competition.
From this program, the DVC was able to add new players to the current Division 3 Women's team and form a new Junior Girls team. Both of which will compete in this year's Volleyball Victoria State League competition.
